what we build together
- build your own app
- build your own AI implementation
- build your own tools
- design and test your own workflows
- share what we build in our community
The IMK AI Platform is hosted on ZHAW infrastructure and is fully compliant with ZHAW data protection regulations. In this environment, we can learn, practice, demonstrate, teach, and research how fundamental language and communication skills are essential for developing technological solutions.
current community artifacts
- run quick readability checks in class with Flesch-Kincaid
- use Phon Reader for French pronunciation-focused reading support
why this matters for teaching and research
As we build and grow our community artifacts, the more we have to teach and learn with. The Phon Reader can be used to teach about breaking pronunciation into syllables instead of letters. The Flesch-Kincaid tool can be used to teach language difficulty levels and the concept of easy language. A "build your own bot" artifact can be used to teach about prompting. A "feedback giver" can be used to teach about assessment of different language models. A "document converter" can be used to teach about the flexibility of different document formats. All of our apps can be used to teach about the role of language professionals in consulting with app developers. We can all beta test our apps -- a process through which we will learn about what we have not thought of yet. With all these community artifacts, we also get the side effect of having apps and tools that are useful for our own work.
